Much have to be said about La Union from its surfing spots and beautiful beaches and the sumptuous foods served at local restaurants. A family get-away led us to Thunderbird Resort in Poro Point. At first I am just excited because of the aesthetic of the resort resembling Santorini of Greece but it proved to be much more than what the photos online and social media gives out.
My adventure started Saturday right after work I headed directly to La Union to meet them in a local restaurant but they are not still there so I went to the Resort instead. The place is really great with clean pools but what really is striking is the infinity pool looking to the sunset as it slowly descends to a golden finish to welcome a brand new night.
The 2-bedroom Villa we had is really elegant, comfortable and very clean inside. I have to say that housekeeping really did a nice job! Nothing beats the feeling of relaxation from busy work and long travel to a nice comfortable bed and beautiful scenery. And I almost forgot the sweet tub gazing through the stars at night.
Breakfast buffet at Olives Restaurant is a delight such a treat after witnessing the sun rising from the east proving that indeed it is the most precious gold found on Earth. Garlic rice to toast, porridge and salads watermelon and bananas. The Vigan Longganisa is the one that satisfied my tastebuds.
I can say that the resort is not yet fully developed as there are still constructions happening on the resort but not to the point that it is disturbing. So as to speak there are also minor improvements needed to be done like the lawns infront of our Villa was not well trimmed the glass roof from the bath and tub still has the dimensions of the glass written on chalk. Security is strict to a point that it made made it hard for me to enter the resort easily. While keeping security is a priority I would highly suggest that they should keep a guest list at the main entrance so guest can easily enter without unnecessary delay.
The place is just picturesque nothing less than what it is dubbed as Santorini of Asia. From white sand beach to the white-and-blue theme and Greek pots and ambiance this is really a highly recommendable place to stay. In fact as we are leaving La Union our conversation is that we are going back next vacation.
